What is Canada's Express Entry System?
The Express Entry system is one of the most popular pathways through which Canada welcomes economic class migrants. This system operates through a two-stage process. Initially, candidates must meet the basic eligibility criteria under one of the three skilled immigration programs. Prospective immigrants then upload their profiles into the portal and receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on factors such as age, work experience, language skills, education, arranged employment, provincial nomination, and other adaptability factors.
In the second stage, Immigration, Refugees and
Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducts immigration draws every two weeks, inviting
candidates with the highest CRS scores to apply for permanent residency. Upon
receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA), candidates have 90 days to submit a
complete application for permanent residency. The federal government processes
most PR applications within six months.
